This session on 4th
September at 10am - 12pm will provide general
information for parents of children aged under 5 on: normal
speech and language development, importance of talking
and playing with children, practical ideas on ways to
play with your children to stimulate language development,
what parents can do if they have concerns, and bilingualism
and language development.

Learning to Talk,
Talking to Learn
Learning to Talk and understand
language starts well before children enter school. Parents
play a vital role in helping their children develop their
communication skills in the early years. As children communicate
and interact with parents they learn social skills, thinking
skills, and many more skills. Learning to talk, Talking
to Learn is a workshop for parents to develop these
skills through play, books and daily activities. This
workshop is suitable for parents with 0-6 year old children.

International Women's
Day 2007
International Women's Day
is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world.
This date is designated in many countries as a national
holiday. Women on all continents are often divided by
national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, cultural,
economic and political differences. They come together
to celebrate their Day. They can look back to a tradition
that represents at least nine decades of struggle for
equality, justice, peace and development.
Immigrant Women's Health
will celebrate International Women's Day on 8
March 2007 with a Cultural Festival. For further

Heart Week 1st
- 7th May 2005
An Information Session
on Healthy Heart practices will be held on Friday
6 May 2005, 10.00am - 12.00pm at Immigrant Women's
Health Service Cabramatta Office.
The information session
is organised by Fairfield Division of General Practice
and Immigrant Women's Health Service for the Vietnamese
community to learn about keeping your heart healthy, how
often you need to check with your GP, and to learn the
importance of having regular exercise. Guest speaker -
Dr Xuyen Tran.

The Immigrant Women's Health
Service, in joint partnership with Bankstown Health Service,
provides a free Women's Health Clinic
for breast checks, pap tests, continence assessments,
pregnancy tests, advice on pregnancy, menopause, contraception,
and other related Women's Health issues. All services
are provided by a qualified Women's Health Nurse.

Responding to Prolonged
Trauma Against Women and Children
Responding to prolonged
trauma against women and children is an information session
to be held on 5 May 2005 at Fairfield.
This session is for community workers working with migrant
and refugee communities, who may come across domestic
violence and sexual assault.
The information session
will be presented by Dympna House Child Sexual Assault
Counselling and Resource Centre, Immigrant Women's Health
Service, Immigrant Women's Speakout Association of NSW,
and Stepping Out Housing Program.
